Eugen Marx and his family

Eugen Marx married Bertha Louise van den Bergh in 1908. The couple had two children. One child had left the Netherlands before the war.
In the 1930's Eugen Marx helped German Jews across the boarder. The Marx family had no doubt what would happen to them if the Nazis got hold of them. At the day of the German occupation of the Netherlands the three family members tried to escape by boat to England. The child managed to get across. The parents returned home, where they committed suicide. Both children survived the war.
