Leonard Herman van Straten studied Medicine in Leiden and sat for his medical finals in 1929. He lived and practised medicine as a family doctor at 49 Statenlaan in The Hague, where he also practised medicine in the outpatients' clinic at 20 Zuidwal and at 24 Stuwstraat. In 1932 Van Straten co-founded the Haagse Medische Club with J.A. Van der Hoeven and B. Schmitz.
