Ellen came to the Netherlands with a Kindertransport on January 4th, 1939. She stayed in Bergen aan Zee, Driebergen, Soest, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. In May 1940 she moved in with a foster family.
Last address in Germany: Köln, Steinweg 15 or Brusselerstr. 19. There were plans to emigrate to the US.
Her mother was Emilie Fuchs, born in 1885 in Düseeldorf. She and Ellen's father, Friedrich, born in 1889 in Holzminden, were deported to the Lodz ghetto in late October 1941.Source: National Archive, 2.04.58, inv. 130 and others.
