The fate of Joel Hillesum, his wife Jennie Hillesum-Trijtel and their three children Marianna, Rebecca and Hartog.

Jennie Trijtel was a daughter of Abraham Trijtel and Rebecca Zomerplaag, who was born on 16 August 1916 in London. She married Joel Hillesum, a son of Hartog Hillesum and Marianna van Collem. The Hillesum-Trijtel couple had three children, namely: the twins Marianna and Rebecca in 1937 and a son Hartog in 1938.

About the 16th & 17th convoy of 31 October 1942.

The 16th and 17th convoy, which have been merged after their depart from Mechelen, deported in total 1676 persons, among them 137 children. For the first time, mass escapes had taken place at the Belgian section of the railroad track; 24 deportees jumped from the rolling train.
