Johan de Leeuw

Johan zat met zijn zus Mimi ondergedoken bij de familie Ottema aan de Veldkampsweg 10 te Almelo. Hij stond zijn plaats af voor Mimi's verloofde, Heinz Löwenhardt (1913-1989) en kwam met zijn ouders Arnold en Louisa de Leeuw terecht in het Verscholen Dorp bij Vierhouten. Daar werden alle drie op 31 oktober 1944 vermoord.

The mayor of Almelo requested that Arnold de Leeuw, his wife Louisa Mathilda Weyl and their son Johan de Leeuw be located, detained and brought to trial. The family lived at 19 Schuttenstraat in Almelo. They had changed their place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.

Op 15 november 2023 werden in Almelo ter plekke van het voormalige pand Schuttenstraat 19 Stolpersteine gelegd voor Louisa, Arnold en Johan (Jopie) de Leeuw die op 31 oktober 1944 aan de Tongerenscheweg te Vierhouten door Nederlandse handlangers van de Nazi's onder leiding van de Duitser Frankenstein zijn vermoord.
