About Lea de Klerk-Jessurun

Lea Jessurun was the daughter of Joseph Jessurun and Benvenida Brandon. Until her marriage Lea worked as a secretary for the architect Eduard Cuypers. On 31 March 1910, she married Michel de Klerk, who later became a famous architect and artist. In 1924, a year after her husband’s death, Lea took a secretarial job at Arti et Amicitiae, an artists’ society in Amsterdam.

Joost Benvenuto de Klerk (12.04.1915) was de oudste zoon van de bekende Amsterdamse School-architect Michel de Klerk (1884-1923) en Lea Jessurun. De tweede naam Benvenuto lijkt een verwijzing naar zijn oma van moederkant die in 1857 in Curacao geboren was en die Benvenida heette.
