Lilli Luise Schönfeld was the daughter of Max Schönfeld and Analie Hadra. She married Hugo Mendelsohn in Berlin in 1930. The couple had a son Klaus Wolfgang. In 1934 they got divorced.
The second husband of Lilli Luise Schönfeld managed to escape to England in November 1940. Lilli Luise Schönfeld en Hugo Mendelsohn, once again, moved in together.
