Elias Broches was a student at the Vossius grammar school in Amsterdam. After his exams he became a jazzpianist and standard bearer at the Dutch army. Elias Broches was a regular at café Monico at the Rembrandtsquare in Amsterdam where he performed as a pianist.

In 1941 Elias Broches tried to reach England by boat. His attempt failed and he was executed on 19 August 1942.
