The Frank family fled from Frankfurt am Main to the Netherlands in 1933. The parents and two children, Margot and Annelies Marie, beter known as Anne Frank, moved into a home on Merwedeplein in Amsterdam. During the war, the family was in hiding in the 'Achterhuis' on Prinsengracht. Anne kept a diary there, which was published in many languages after the war.
