Salomon Goudsmit heeft getracht met zijn echtgenote Fanny Goudsmit-Spritzer, hun dochter Vrouwtje Goudsmit en de schoonzus van Fanny, Scheindel Sasje Spritzer-Ertel, Nederland te ontvluchten.
Helaas werden allen in Frankrijk aangehouden.
Zij werden vanuit Angers gedeporteerd, het enige konvooi (n° 8) op 20-7-1942 dat ooit vanuit Angers naar Auschwitz vertrok:
