The Scheuer family trunk with family momento’s

Frieda Daniël and Morris Erman, Omaha, 1946. Ilse and Ruth stayed with them for several weeks before travelling on to   Brooklyn,  New York.  Frieda and Morris has the Scheuer family trunk in there possession.

Enrst Daniel was the son of Klara Scheuer and Alex Daniel.

Ernst Daniel was sent to Buchenwald shortly after Kristallnacht. He escaped and tried twice to get over the border to Holland. Was ultimately successful but was confined as a refugee in Reuven in the south of Holland with Jakob Scheuer. He was able to emigrate to the U.S.A. in 1941. He was bringing with him the Scheuer family trunk of possessions to Maysville, MO where his sister Frieda Daniel Erman lived. They both moved to Omaha, NE at a later date.

Ilse and Ruth emigrated in 1946 to the U.S.A. after they arrived in Mobile, Alabama on July 11, 1946, they stayed overnight with the Gerzon and the Kaufmann family. The next morning, they left by train for a 36-hour trip to Omaha, Frieda and Morris Erman and their four children welcomed them. We felled completely welcome there.

Once in Omaha Ilse and Ruth were given some family belongings which their parents had sent to America with Ernst Daniel when he immigrated in 1941. In the trunk was my favourite doll from my childhood, which immediately provided me with bittersweet memories of my childhood in Sinzenich. I gave the doll to the Erman children.

The trunk also contained family photos and detailed information of the Scheuer and Daniel families!
