Probably one of the last criminal justice processes of a Nazi Criminal

Good afternoon Ruth,

You might be interested in this article, since you and Ilse were at camp Stutthof.

This afternoon July 6, 2020, I was reading a Dutch news paper and this had an article in there today
About a German War criminal . The German  Criminal Justice in Hamburg sentenced  the 93 year old man to Prison.

The man was Bruno Dey the old SS concentration kamp  guard. As a 17 year old he was at Concentration  Kamp Stutthof, bij Gdansk from 1944 til 1945. He was complicit for the dead of 5230 prisoners at the camp Stutthof, by Gdansk.

His process is probably one of the last against Nazi ,Criminals

Bruno Dey was complicit with the extermination ordered by the Nazi’s from the 50230 prisoners, 5000 died In terrible conditions, 200 were sent to the gas chambers and 30 were shot .

The lawyer of the Criminal Cour tin Hamburg, Mr. Lars Mahnke said that Mr. Dey was found guilty of the crimes. He also acted willingly since he voluntarily became a member of the SS during World War II, a fact dat he did not denied. After the sentence was given by the Judge , he did admit that he was a concentration camp guard. But he did not feel guilty of the crimes that he was charged with?!

Stutthof was a concentration Camp with about 115.000 deported persons who where locked up, according to Yad  Vashem 65.000 were killed. From 1944 it became an extermination Camp, most of the prisoners were Jewish, mainly women, from the Baltic States and Polen who were deported from other contraction Camps such as Auschwitz, and other camps.
The Camp was designed in such a way that no one was able to e escape according to the prosecutor.
The justices of the court found that Mr. Dey had been an essential part of the Nazi crimes committed against the Jewish people during that time.
