A Seligsberger relative from the US

I am the first cousin (somewhat removed) of Flip's mother, Katilie Seligsberger, of Fuchsstadt, Germany. Her uncle, my great-great-grandfather Simon Seligsberger (took the name Berger) was unfortunately the only Seligsberger to emigrate to the US in the 19th century. None of his descendents were aware of his true identity until last week, (March 2015) nor of the fate of all Katilie's children and many of her grandchildren. May I express my delight that some were spared? May Philip and Betsy's memory be a blessing.
