Max came to the Netherlands with his sister, on November 27th, 1938. He stayed in Amsterdam, Gorssel and Deventer before going to Wieringen in November 1939.
Max was a smith and lockmaker. His parents were in Amsterdam as well, and were about to emigrate to the US.
His paretns were Erna Schummer, born in 1884 in Kolonyja, and Jacob, born in 1871. They were deported to Sobibor in April 1943.
Max's sister survived.
