About Israël Jacob IJer and his family.

Israël Jacob IJer was killed in Auschwitz, his wife and children almost one year later in Sobibor.

Israël Jacob IJer was a son of Abraham IJer and Kaatje Stad. 5 August 1931 he married in Rotterdam Sophia Droomer, a daughter of Leendert Droomer and Sophia Aandagt. The couple had two children: Kaatje in 1932 and Leendert in 1935. Both children were killed in the Shoah, just as their parents.

After their marriage, Israël Jacob and his wife Sophia have lived in at some different addresses in Rotterdam but per 15 August 1934 they were registered in the Populiation Registry at the address Josephstraat 48c, where they stayed till their deportations.

Israël Jacob IJer was a street vendor. For reasons, yet still unknown, Israël Jacob IJer has been deported to Auschwitz already in August 1942, where he was killed 14 August 1942. His wife Sophia and his children Kaatje and Leendert however were deported to Westerbork only 10 April 1943 where they had to stay in barack 70. 18 May they were put on transport to Sobibor where they have been killed immediately upon arrival there 21 May 1943.
