Soesman Erwteman, son of Hijman Erwteman and Heintje Polak, married 31 July 1912 in Amsterdam to Clara van de Kar, a daughter of David van de Kar and Heintje Schraal. The couple had two children: Hendrika and Marianna.
Soesman was born in a family with six children, of whom his sister Schoontje as survived the war, however, a few months later already on 3 June 1945 she passed away in Antwerp. His other siblings, Simon, Jetje, Juda and Hartog have been killed all during the Holocaust
