Levie Hamerslag was a son of Karel Hamerslag and Esther Godschalk. He had a brother of David Hamerslag.
Levie Hamerslag married Aaltje Wegloop in 1922. Together they had eleven children. One of them died at a young age. Aaltje Wegloop died on 20 June 1941. After the death of their mother Enny, Judith and David lived at the Centraal Israëlitisch Wees- en Doorgangshuis(central Jewish home for orphans and transients) at Leiden. The eldest daughter Esther married on 25 September 1940. The entire family Hamerslag died during the war.

Levie Hamerslag, a waiter, and Esther Rodrigues Lopes de Lara, the widow of Michiel Wertheim, had given notice of their intended marriage. Before the wedding could take place, they were deported.
