Catharina Salomon was a daughter of Jacobus Salomon and Saartje van Hachgenberg, a family of in total thirteen children, of whom she self, Maurits, Joseph, Rebecca and Margaretha did not survive the Holocaust.
Catharina married 13 March 1929 in Den Haag to Frederik Mozes Aaron van Pels, a son of Jozef van Pels and Hemmechien Schuthof. Catharina and Frederik had three children together, of whom two baby daughters have died in 1933. Their only son was Jozef.
