About David Philip Barend Meiboom

The mayor of Hardinxveld requested that David Philip Barend Meiboom, a Jew residing in Hardinxveld, be located. He had left the home of his parents on 10 August 1942. 'Since the missing person was depressed, an accident is perfectly conceivable. Meiboom was wearing dark brown trousers, a dark brown jumper, black socks and interlock underwear.'

David Meiboom was the son of Barend Meiboom and Lea van Blankenstein. After his parents were taken away in the autumn of 1942, David was given a warm reception at a home on Sluisweg in Hardinxveld-Giessendam. At one point, a German vehicle stopped outside this house. The passengers wanted to ask David for directions. David thought the Germans were after him, however, and he broke into a run. This made the Germans suspicious, and they pursued him. David was caught and met the same tragic fate as his parents.
