Klara Brest was the daughter of Alexander Brest and Branka Levie Polak. She married Salomon de Leeuw, son of Louis de Leeuw and Betje Rozeveld, on 23 May 1894 in Hoogeveen. The couple had eight children, two boys and six girls. Salomon de Leeuw died in 1941. During the war Klara Brest lived with her daughter Branka Brest who was also a widow.
