Hartog Gans was the son of Isaac Gans and Maria Bloch. In 1923 he got married to Anna Vigeveno, dochter van Gabriel Vigeveno en Margaretha van Amerongen. She passed away in 1931.

After his first marriage Hartog Gans had a relationship with Johanna Polak. They were not married. Hartog Gans was killed in an accident. He was buried at the Jewish cemetery in Muiderberg. In an unknown newspaper there were placed three death notices for him.
