About Maurits Nieweg

Maurits Nieweg was the son of Louis Karel Nieweg and Marie van Tijn. He got married in Amsterdam on 28 February 1942. The couple had one child. During the war the family went into hiding. Maurits Nieweg was arrested. He wrote several letters from the prison in Den Bosch (The letters are currently at the Jewish Historical Museum). His wife and their child survived the war.
Addition of a visitor of the website

The mayor of Doetinchem requested that Maurits Nieweg, residing in Doetinchem and without any occupation, be located, detained and brought to trial. He was suspected of having changed his place of residence without the required authorizations. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.
