Stadsarchief Amsterdam, archiefkaart Abraham Emmerik

Betje Emmerik-Engelsman was picked up during the war at the same time as her two children Mozes and Branca. At the moment of their arrest, her third child was coming towards them. Betje gestured to her child to run for it, and the child obeyed. The Germans later placed notices in the newspaper ordering the child to report to them. The child obeyed out of fear, but survived the war even so.
