Benoit Franco Mendes was a son of Abraham Franco Mendes and Sara Lopes de Leao Laguna. He married Esther Lopes Suasso in 1900 in Amsterdam. She died in 1931. They had three children. Their first child Suze died at a very young age. Their other two children were Cora Suze and Albert Isac. Benoit remarried on 4 August 1943 with Jochebet Pimentel.
