Margot Pino was de dochter van Eduard Pino en Berta Sichel. Ze werd geboren op 19 september 1920. Eduard Pino was kleermaker van beroep. Margot had twee broers: Hans (1921) en Ernst (1924). Ze werd geboren in Duitsland, in Fulda, maar haar vader kwam uit Nederland. Toen Hitler in Duitsland aan de macht kwam, verhuisde de familie naar Sneek. Margot volgde een opleiding tot kapster. Margot Pino werd op 7 juli 1943 in Den Haag gearresteerd met een vals (gestolen) persoonsbewijs.
