Biography

About Frederika Henriette Muller and her father Abraham Jakob Muller.

Frederika Henriette Muller was the youngest of the six children of Abraham Jakob Muller and Rebecca Zippora Coltof. She was unmarried and lived toghether with her father, who was widowed already since October 1923, at Houtmarkt 6 under house. (previously named Jonas Daniël Meijerplein – the name, forbidden by the Germans so the square had the former name again).

Her father was janitor at the N.I.H.S. (Dutch Israëlitic Main Synagogue) at Houtmarkt already since 1 April 1891. Because of his function, he was exempted from deportation until further notice.

Frederika was head of the cleaning service of the buildings of the N.I.H.S. since 1924 and also concierge. Previously she was employed as seamstress. Because of her function of head of cleaning and concierge, she too was exempted from deportation until further notice. However, 29 May 1943 she and her father were deported to Westerbork where they had to stay in barack 64.

Some days later, 1 June, Frederika was already put on transport to Sobibor and on arrival there 4 June 1943 immediately killed.

Her father Abraham Jakob was added 8 June 1943 to the so called “children transport” from Vught via Westerbork to Sobibor. On arrival there 11 June 1943 Abraham Jakob Muller has been immediately killed.
