Isaac Metzelaar was a son of Sander Hillel Metzelaar and Bartje de Haan. He married Hendel Limkowski, daughter of Mozes Limkowski and Sophie (Spince) Ferber, on 26 January 1905 in Amsterdam, but his marriage ended already after two years by divorce on 3 January 1907.

Isaäc Metzelaar was arrested in July 1942 by the head of the vice squad, Jasper van Opijnen, for prohibited homosexual conduct. Isaäc was married to Hendel Limkowksi. They probably lived apart, given that in 1941, Hendel lived at Tweede Boerhaavestraat 77 I.
