At the end of 1942 Fred Kaufmann went into hiding on the farm of Huisman, 'Gernerveldhoeve', near Dalfsen. He was arrested there on 5 March 1943, together with his sister Jeanne Emily and four members of the Frank family from Hardenberg, and deported to Westerbork.
