Barend Brander was a son of Isaac Brander and Marianne van Bever. He married 18 November 1914 in Amsterdam to Rachel Boesnach, daughter of Asser Boesnach and Sara Witteboon.
Besides his brothers and sister Raphael, Nathan, Elias and Elisabeth who have been killed in the Holocaust, it were also his sister-in-law Sophie Schelvis who was married to his brother Hartog who died already in 1923 and his brother-in-law Joseph Ritmeester, widower of his sister Aaltje Brander who had died in January 1940.
