Isidor van Engel was a son from the 3rd marriage of Daniël van Engel and Johanna Grünewald. He was unmarried.
He had a sister Julia, who passed away before the war, a little sister Heintje who died only 1 year old in 1899 and a sister Emma, who survived the war.
From previous marriages of his father, three halfbrothers of Isidor have been born: Salomon van Engel, Mozes Aron van Engel en Nathan van Engel.
