Jacob (Jaap) Jessurun de Mesquita was the only son of Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita and Elisabeth Pinédo. He studied art history at the University of Amsterdam, but never completed his study. Jacob had always lived with his parents or in the appartment above his parents'.
