Martha Cohen was a daughter of Abraham Cohen and Jetta Klein. She married in Veendam on 2 May 1883 to Marcus van Zuiden from Hoogeveen, aged 26, son of Simon van Zuiden and Agatha Beuth. Marcus however passed away already in Hoogeveen on 4 February 1916.
The couple had six children together, of whom Israel and Simon already have deceased before the war. Their widows however, Elisabeth van Zuiden-Hamburger and Rosette van Zuiden-van Geuns did not survive the Holocaust. The other children were Johan, Isaak, Abraham and Jetje.
