Alexander Katwijk was a son of Levie Gumpel Katwijk and Betje Eleazer Bas. He married 10 December 1935 in Amsterdam Marianne Berklou, a daughter of Benjamin Berklou and Saartje de Vries. Marianne Berklou however passed away on 5 August 1931 and was interred in the Jewish Cemetery of Diemen. On 7 August 1935 Alexander Katwijk remarried to Jetje Vleeskruijer but this marriage ended in a divorce on 20 May 1937.
