About Israel Scholte

Israel Scholte was a son of Joseph Scholte and Rebecca Gobitz. He married 20 November 1918 in Amsterdam Marianne Koekoek, a daughter of Jacob Koekoek and Catharina Hart. The couple had four children, Rebekka who married in 1941 and who lived at an other address and the still at home with their parents living children Jacob, Joseph and Catharina.
Israel was born in a family with five children, of whom four of them have been killed during the Holocaust: himself, Hijman, Barend and Leentje.

According to a list with shops of Jewish owners, compiled by the Amsterdam police in 1940, Israel Scholte and Marianna Koekoek had a fuel and bicycle parts shop, address: Plantage Muidergracht 59 in Amsterdam.
