Jacob Fride was a son of Herman Fride and Esther Nitka. He married in Amsterdam on 9 Juli 1919 to Sipora Wertheim, daughter of Jonas Wertheim and Rebecka Levy. The couple had three children: Herman, Jonas and Esther Malka.
