Claire Willy (Pietie) de Hoop was an only child. She went to the public primary school on the Hommelseweg 10 in Arnhem. In 1942 she wrote to a friend (translated from Dutch): "How are you doing. I am in Amsterdam again. Will you write back quickly. My address is Jekerstraat 55, byyye from Pietie".
