Jeanette Spier was a daughter of Heiman Liefman Spier and Esther Posener. She was one of their six children. In 1924, she moved from the town of Hengelo to Leeuwarden. Between 1925 and 1928, she returned to Hengelo, where she worked as a shop assistant for the Rhee company. In 1930, she left for Hilversum, but later returned to live in Hengelo once again.
Addition of a visitor of the website
The mayor of Hengelo requested that Jeanette Meijers-Spier be located, detained and brought to trial. She had been living in Hengelo and was suspected of having changed her place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.
Quote from Wiegman: 'On 7 September 1944, a house at the Spinnersweg in Hengelo was raided. The SD had been tipped off that Jews were hiding out at this address. The Nazis arrested Jeanette Meyers-Spier from Hengelo, Herman van Coevorden from Rotterdam and Eduard Denneboom from Enschede. They were transferred to Twente airfield and shortly afterwards executed and buried there'.
