Noach Benninga and his family

Noach Benninga was married to Jacoba van Dam. They had a daughter, Kaatje, and a son, Philippus. The family lived at 13 Torenstraat in Warffum. Noach Benninga was a cattle dealer. In 1942 he was arrested for violating Nazi regulations by trading. He was deported to Mauthausen. On 26 October a message arrived from Mauthausen at their home in Warffum informing his wife that her husband had been shot dead while trying to escape. His wife and children had been killed in Auschwitz by then.
